'The Light of the World'

W. H. Hunt was alongwith Millais one of the founders of the Pre-Raphaelite art movement. And among his thirty plus major works of art this painting from 1853 is perhaps the most famous. Showing as it does Christ in an English setting it became one of the most potent icons of the nineteenth century.
